Over the years I have found the same questions pop up, I’ve detailed these below. Should you not find an answer to your question please feel free to get in touch and I’d be happy to help.

Where are you based?
I’m based in St Neots, which is near to Cambridge.

Can you work on site?
I mainly work remotely, but if you’re within a commutable distance I can work from your premises.

Are you able to come into our offices for a briefing?
If you’re within a 30 minute radius of my location we can meet in person. If you’re further away I recommend we setup a conference call to discuss your project.

Could you make changes or bug fixes to my existing site?
Sorry, no. I only take on new builds.

Would you work with a theme I’ve bought?
I’m afraid not, I specialise in bespoke builds only.

Will you sign my NDA / contract?
As a sole trader I choose to not enter into contracts. Sole traders and partnerships do not have the same level of protection as a limited company.

What’s your office hours?
I work 1000 to 1600, Monday to Thursday (excluding public holidays).

Are you VAT registered?
No, I’m not VAT registered.

How do you quote for work?
All projects are costed on a flat-rate basis, based on agreed deliverables. As long as these don’t change, neither will the cost.

Do you require a deposit?
Yes, I require a cleared deposit of 50% prior to starting the build.

How does billing work?
A cleared deposit of 50% of the total cost is required before the build commences. On completion of the build I’ll invoice for the balancing payment, once cleared I can release the source code. For larger builds I sometimes introduce a mid-point milestone payment.

Invoice terms are 14 days (excluding deposit, which is due on receipt).

What do you need from me to provide a quotation?
I would ask if you could provide visuals for all required page templates, these should cover all three major breakpoints (mobile, tablet, desktop). A site map and functional specification document is also required. Artwork must be signed off before I quote as any changes will affect costing.

What file format should my artwork be in?
Either layered Photoshop PSDs or Sketch files.

Do you support IE 9, 10 or 11?
Due to the limitations of these versions, no. I do however support latest versions of Edge.

Are you able to offer white label services?
I’m afraid not as I secure work based on examples of previous builds.

Can you work on our staging servers?
Sorry, no. Source code will only be released once once payment is received in full. You can keep track of the build as I work locally and push daily previews to my staging server.

How do you QA test
I test on a live devices including a Windows machine (no emulation), Mac, iOS devices and Android.

For React based projects, I also provide testing at a unit level using Jest.

Do you offer a warranty / guarantee on your work?
Yes, 30 days. Once the site is built and migrated to your server you have 30 days to use, test and alert me to any bugs. Issues that are due to my own error will be fixed at no additional cost, however I’m unable to offer a warranty on third party software and plugins.

Who owns the copyright for works produced?
Once payment is cleared and your site is transferred to your server, IP / copyright is also transferred to you (excluding any background IP or third party licenses). I do however retain the right to be credited for and to discuss / display works for promotional and marketing purposes.
